Prior to commencement ensure the saw is inspected and is free from damages/defects.

If there are any damages to the equipment, do not operate. Report to Supervisor and remove from service until it has been repaired or replaced.

Familiarise yourself with the machine and controls (i.e. emergency stop). Make sure you understand the use and operation of all controls.

On a daily basis you should; make a general cleaning by removing dust and shavings from the machine; top off the coolant; inspect the disc/saw blade for wear; raise the head into a higher position to reduce stress on the return spring; and check the shield and emergency stops are in good working order.

Clean area around the machine to remove materials and debris, ensuring clear access and egress for a forklift to load and unload items.
